I know you all have been waiting patiently for this post, and frankly i've been meaning to write about it for some time now.. My excuse for this delayed post is simply nothing i can explain because honestly i don't have one. I would say that it is because i am very busy which is partly true, the other part is often referred to as laziness. I am not proud to admit that because i am often one to condemn those who fall into the "lazy" category. But as for now i hope that together we can look past that and just lean more towards the busy side.
With that being said: Welcome to a week in the life of; and OSSO volunteer.
ORPHANAGES:
SVP(Salas): This orphanage consists of three so called "Salas." This is where we spend most of our time. 6 days a week and 7 nights a week are spent at this orphanage.(night shift is done here) The kids range from ages 0-2 and they are the cutest things on planet earth. Our job here is to pretty much do everything. We feed them, change them, play with them ect..
Casas: This orphanage is in the same complex as SVP. It consists of 4 houses with 10 children in each house. They have one "mom" and one "nun" that live their and take care of the kids. During this shift we visit each house for 30 mins, in which we do an activity and then play with the kids. The kids range from 2-18(SVP kids are sent here when they turn 2).
SL: Is a lot like Casa's. Their is four apartments with 10 kids in each. We do activities in each and then play with the kids. (I was just informed that i am now site leader at this site)
SKG/SKB: The Sk's are our special kids. They are all relatively handicapped, some worse then others. We take them to the pan store (bread store) and play with them at the park. Before we leave we have to brush their teeth. We only visit these orphanages twice a week for 2 hours each time. It is very hard work, but it is also very beneficial.
Campi: Is a government owned orphanage with anywhere from 5-15 kids. Currently there is only 8 and they are not very well behaved. We only visit them Wednesday mornings and everyone really dislikes going because of how rude the kids are. I learned that very quickly today during my first shift at Campi. We pretty much just babysit them for 2 hours while their mom takes a break.

Night shift
As you can tell our weeks are very busy. Our days start bright and early and by the time 6pm rolls around your bed couldn't come fast enough. I love what i do and even though sometimes it feels as if the shift is never going to end, i wouldn't trade it for the world. These kids have changed my life in only 3 short weeks. I will never regret the amazing life i have, because now i know what its like to not have anyone to call Mom and Dad. I love my babies with all of my heart and wish nothing more then to give them a life that they deserve. This is the best thing that has every happened to me. Thanks mom and dad:)
