Ganas y Megamaxi;

Today was another one of those days we like to call "free fridays." If you haven't noticed yet, i have been out in the field for approximately 6 weeks, or a month and a half for those of you still in school.

Ganas is an orphanage that is in desperate need. They used to have 10 families that donated to their orphanage every month, but slowly one by one those families trickled off. They now have no electricity and get only a few lbs of meat that is suppose to last them months. There is 70 kids that live their and lets just say they needed our help. We got $ 1,500 in donations so this morning a few of us went to the grocery store and bought them a bunch of stuff. We then had the opportunity to bring the donations to the orphanage and give it to the kids ourselves. It was a once in a life time experience.

How i spent my day. Happier then ever.

Seeing the look on their faces as we pulled up in a car full of groceries was like nothing i have ever seen. That right there was the exact reason i came down here. Serving kids in need is one of the best feelings i have ever experienced. It makes me so happy to know that i can do something and have an effect on these kids lives. Only in all reality, i think they are helping me more then i am helping them and i couldn't be more thankful for the things these kids are teaching me.

Of course we couldn't go on with our day until we visited the "muy grande" MEGAMAXI. Its like a mall/movie theater/grocery store all in one. Awesome right?

 We had a few things to check off the list, and after that of course knowing us, we fooled around a bit. Until we got asked to put our camera away because picture taking is not allowed in grocery stores in Ecuador. It was fun while it lasted at least.

This is how we spend our free time. Be jealous.

All in all, it was a very great "Free Friday." Definitely one i will never forget. Thats for sure....
